Spring Classes at the Whole Soul Centre:

Mandala Painting  February 25th 1-4pm  Mandalas are an ancient Hindu and Buddhist symbol that represents the universal divine.  In this workshop we will learn about how mandalas are used in meditative ritual and each create our own.  Materials provided, beginners welcome

Painting Your Personal Symbols March 25th 1-4pm  Symbolism has been used to communicate values and messages by artists since the beginning of time.  In this workshop we will examine the secret language of symbols in artwork and create our own symbol painting using watercolor resist.  Materials provided, beginners welcome

Class Supply Lists


Acrylic Painting

-Canvases (11" x 14" or larger)

-1 Pad of hot-pressed "Bristol" paper (11" x 14" or larger)

-Acrylic Brushes

-Palette Knife

-Paper Palette

-Acrylic Paints: red, blue, yellow, white, black and any other color that you love!  I like Winsor Newton brand but if you have another favorite that is fine. 


Oil Painting

-Canvases (11" x 14" or larger)

-Small Canvases (5" x 7" or so, sometimes you can get these in packs)

-Oil Brushes

-Palette Knife

-Paper Palette

-Oil Paints: cadmium yellow, lemon yellow, cadmium red, alizarin crimson, ultramarine blue, cerulean blue, viridian green, sap green, violet purple, titanium white(If you can't find these exact colors, that is okay.  Get something close to get you started.  I recommend starting with a nice large box set that has warm and cools of each color.  Most of the colors I purchase are Winsor Newton Brand.)

-Linseed Oil

-Gamsol Mineral Spirits or Turpenoid Natural

-"Pink Soap" or other brush cleaning product
